“Great stop on the way in/out of the country”
After a late flight from Sydney, we stayed at Spicepeek, which is about 10–15 minutes from the airport—exactly why we chose it. It sits on a quiet backstreet off the main highway, so there was no noise and we slept well. It’s a solid spot if you need a stopover before a flight. We didn’t explore the area much, but there’s probably an ATM and a supermarket nearby. The man behind reception helped us change cash when a TukTuk driver tried to overcharge us. We booked a taxi service through Spicepeek and used it for the whole two‑week stay in Sri Lanka. The accommodation matched what you’d expect at that price in the area. We especially enjoyed the pool outside our room, which you can jump straight into from the room. The staff were helpful and attentive, breakfasts were substantial, and overall it was a great stay.
