“Maybe the best of poor options but very unremarkable.”
The food was mediocre and pricey, and the place really needs a makeover—just pretty bland overall.

Sails in the Desert, located near Uluru (Ayers Rock) lookout, offers stunning desert views. The resort features an outdoor pool, tennis court, and day spa. It's a 20-minute drive from Uluru and 40-minute drive from Kata Tjuta. Air-conditioned rooms have minibars, tea/coffee facilities, and private balconies. Aboriginal-inspired decor showcases original artworks, and the Mulgara Gallery displays Indigenous art.

I was greeted by an Asian female receptionist whose name starts with CE, and she was arrogant and rude. When I asked about my room, she said the hotel was fully booked that night and no change was possible, even though I arrived early. The room faced an earth slope and was right next to large waste‑bin enclosures. Uluru has so many flies that we didn’t dare open the balcony door at all. Inside, the hair‑dryer didn’t work and we found a spider. I asked reception for help; she only offered to replace the hair‑dryer and flatly refused a room change. Traveling with kids, we expected a comfortable desert stay, but the room allocation, faulty in‑room facilities, and front‑desk service left us extremely disappointed. I hope the hotel improves staff training and treats all paying guests equally.

The free activities that let you learn more about the culture are great, but the whole resort feels a bit dated and every dinner and sunrise experience costs a lot.

The location was excellent, the free shuttle was well organised and regular, the staff (reception, housekeeping and restaurant) were really friendly, helpful and obliging, the grounds were very well maintained, the room was clean, comfortable and well set out. There was a good variety of dining options - room service and the pool bar food was delicious and service was wonderful. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Absolutely nothing
