“An overnight stay deep in the countryside”
We were first timers at an agriturismo and it turned out to be a great experience; the setting is a peaceful countryside spot and the host, a very pleasant lady, cooked our dinner which was first‑rate, with lovely antipasto and primo/secondo piatti, all local cuisine. Breakfast was excellent and the host brewed real Italian Moka coffee instead of using the machine. The grounds host a good variety of animals—there’s a resident dog, chickens, a llama, a sheep, a pony, and probably others we didn’t spot. Finding the place with sat‑nav was a bit tricky; using the exact geo‑coordinates is recommended. The room was a bit disappointing, with tired furniture and furnishings, but mosquito nets were a welcome touch. The bathroom was basic, the shower not great, and hot water took a while to arrive because it comes from an oil‑fired boiler some distance away, but that’s understandable given the low price. Dinner was a little pricey, yet the quality was excellent.
