Very centrally located for hiking, Teufelschlucht is within walking distance, the staff were friendly, but the hotel felt a bit old‑fashioned and the carpeted floors could use a refresh.

The room was Spartan, the minimum; there were no photos on the site, and it felt like a monastery.

Breakfast was good, dinner was tasty with solid service, the central spot in Irrel, staff tried to meet all requests (like seating a larger group together), and there seemed to be decent accommodation options for cyclists and motorcyclists; however, the rooms could use a renovation (quite old and worn), staff struggled to set up umbrellas even though the sun was blazing, but afterward the beverage service was good; the beer garden was essentially a converted parking lot with a laid‑down artificial turf.

The room and bathroom were large, far better than I had expected for the price.
