The rooms were exceptionally clean, impeccably presented, and the beds and bathrooms were superb. The bedroom mirror for makeup could use better lighting, but overall the room was gorgeous – the best overnight stay I’ve had in a while. The staff were a bit stiff and not as friendly as they could be. There was no breakfast, though they seem to be working on that. We’d booked an evening table for dinner but were concerned about the small portions mentioned in earlier reviews. When we saw the food that arrived, we decided to eat elsewhere. The portions were tiny, especially the pizzas, and the chips looked frozen. We went to The Stanley Arms instead – what a discovery! The portions there were huge and the food was sensational. We had seabass and slow‑cooked beef, scoring 10 out of 10. The staff were lovely. Book your stay at The Griffin Inn but plan to dine elsewhere.

We’d stayed here once before, so we already knew the inn was dog‑friendly and had plenty of parking. The rooms appeared to have been refurbished since our last visit in March 2026, making the stay very pleasant and good value. We’d definitely consider staying again. There was nothing we disliked; it was a perfect spot to rest. We didn’t have a drink or meal at the inn because we were taken out for dinner, but the food looked good from what we saw.
