“Fabulous property, fabulous host, fabulous breakfast in a beautiful part of the Lake District!”
Hill Crest Country Guest House felt like a cozy retreat with a roomy room and a bed that was supremely comfortable. The property sits in a very quiet rural spot, so traffic barely buzzes past the front, letting us open a window for fresh night air. Stargazing was a treat with zero light pollution. Jane, the host, was attentive and served a delightful breakfast; when we arrived she offered cream tea in the conservatory overlooking the rear garden and a panoramic valley view. The peace away from nearby towns was a highlight, and I’d definitely return and recommend Hill Crest without hesitation. There’s nothing I’d dislike about the place.
Everything was perfect, and there was nothing I didn’t like.
“We found Jane to be an exceptional host - she is a mine of information of the area and places to visit . Added to that w”
In a peaceful picturesque setting. Spotlessly clean. Really comfy bed . Plenty of drawer and wardrobe room . Well positioned for the places we wanted to visit .Lovely breakfast in conservatory with excellent views over the Leven Valley. Can’t think of anything !
“A perfect stay to wind down after days exploring the lakes.”
Everything was exactly what I hoped for. The double bed I stayed in was comfortable and didn’t have the usual central ridge that most double beds have. Water pressure was fine, and there was plenty of local info and walking routes provided. The host was fantastic, and the eggs benedict at breakfast were the best I’ve had, surpassing what most restaurants manage. The view from the breakfast/lounge area was stunning, and the bedroom offered ample storage for clothes and other items. The only downside was a slight traffic hum (the room I had wasn’t road‑facing, so it was minor) and downstairs guests could hear the upstairs guests’ footsteps; light sleepers might want earplugs or white noise. Parking works for all vehicles except monster trucks, but you need to be mindful and courteous when parking.
“Jane could not have done anymore to enhance our stay. Her guidance on places to visit was really good and enabled us to”
The stay was very comfortable, and the views were superb.
