Everything was wonderful.
Everything!!!
“Izcila naktsmītnes atrašanās vieta, dabas tuvums un komforts vienlaikus.”
Excellent location on the coast, with plenty of nature, peace, and quiet. It also offers enough comfort and equipment to spend a wonderful holiday cooking meals in the guesthouse. The guesthouse has a smart lock and remote check‑in.
The grounds were pleasant and clean, and the sea was nearby. It felt odd that they offered us to buy barbecue gear, even though it was listed as a service.
“A stay by the seaside”
If you love the sea and plan to spend most of your time there, Četri Vēji is a solid pick. The beach is just a short walk across a meadow, a local gravel road, and a few wooden steps that are a bit uneven but still usable. The parking situation is fine: there's a lot next to the main building with the communal kitchen (usually full) and another just inside the entrance that’s almost always empty, so you rarely have to struggle for a spot. It’s only a short walk—about the length of one house—to your accommodation, which feels safer with more space around the car. Walking along the coast to Jūrkalne feels easy, so you can get by without a car, which is a nice change. The shared kitchen has a fridge and a communal breakfast area. It’s a shame the glass doors to the courtyard were locked, because there were two small tables on the terrace that would have been perfect for a quiet morning coffee. The grounds are large enough to set up wooden tables and benches for evenings, maybe even a campfire (though we didn’t try that because we weren’t sure if it was allowed). The distance from the main road keeps the passing‑car noise from disturbing us. Our room was quite small—good for sleeping but not for relaxing. We had to share the bathroom with another room, and a Polish couple’s belongings, including swimsuits, were left around, making us feel like intruders. There’s no ventilation in the bathroom, so the door was often left open to let moisture escape. For more privacy, Četri Vēji offers separate cottages for families or groups, which would avoid sharing a bathroom or kitchen. We chose this spot partly because the Q&A said “We have dedicated charging spots on the property for EV charging; please ask the staff.” But there are no on‑site charging points. When I arrived, I didn’t see any, so I sent a message to Četri Vēji () and got no reply that day or the next. A staff member later told me charging is possible at a public station in Jurkalnė, which is helpful but not the same as on‑site charging that was promised. I also saw electrical outlets (see photo) that seemed meant for campers, but I wasn’t offered to use them either.
