“Highly recommended, lovely staff and large rooms, well furnished public areas.”
I was torn between giving a 9 or a 10, but the friendly staff and their accommodating attitude tipped me toward a perfect 10. The hotel turned out better than other reviews had suggested, and I chose it mainly because of its proximity to friends. I stayed in a 'deluxe twin' room where the beds were actually quite large, almost like small double beds. The linens were crisp and clean, the room spacious, and the bathroom featured a large bathtub with powerful water pressure that filled the tub quickly. Since I don’t enjoy cooked breakfast, I told the young staff I wouldn’t be there for it and they offered a packed lunch instead, which I appreciated a lot; they even followed up in the morning to make sure I had it. I dined there the night before with some friends, and the restaurant meal was excellent. The restaurant was much quieter than the bar, and the public lounge and bar area were nice. Overall, I loved it. The room stayed very quiet even though the bar and restaurant were busy on Saturday night. After a 10‑day holiday staying in Airbnbs, the professionalism at this hotel was a real relief. The only downside was a sash window: the top part sagged and hundreds of midges flew in right before I went to bed. I didn’t notice it until then, but a fan in the room and following online advice kept me safe. Don’t open that window! The wallpaper also needed replacing because of stains. Still, the staff, the very comfortable big 'single' bed, the room size, and the fact that the midges didn’t bite me earned this place a top review.
