The room is large, well‑located, and quiet. Breakfast is delicious and changes every morning. The private bath is very pleasant. The shuttle system to the city is very convenient! The staff are kind and helpful.

The setting is beautiful and amazingly calm. The rooms are very comfortable, with great views over the forested hills behind the property. We also had one of our best meals in Japan—a next‑level dinner with great flavor combinations, paired with a well‑curated selection of natural wines from a well‑stocked cellar. It’s a great spot for a relaxing stay with excellent food and wine. Everything was perfect.

Auberge Hidanomori is worth your money. It’s hard to know where to start. Toshi‑san and his family make sure you have a comfortable—and importantly—a memorable stay. The building itself is near Takayama and tucked away on a peaceful side street. There are only a handful of rooms, so it feels like a boutique accommodation. Every detail of this property is, in my opinion, immaculate: the design and finish of the rooms, the absence of clutter, sufficient instructions without overwhelming you with rules. I had just arrived from an outdoor adventure and Auberge Hidanomori was heaven on earth. Creature comforts and every small detail were carefully considered. If you stay here, then eat dinner here. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten, and the wine pairings were outrageously good. Go along for the ride at dinner, and if you are like me, you will be talking about it for weeks, months, and years. Thank you, Toshi‑san and family.

We loved our stay at Auberge Hida nomori. From the moment we were picked up from the station we felt truly welcomed and looked after. The whole place is truly calm and peaceful, just what we needed after two weeks exploring Japan. We also had the best meal of our trip here. Can't wait to come back again one day!
