When we left the pension, we were greeted by a nice view of the countryside. We definitely did not receive the “family room with a mountain view” we had expected. Instead, we were placed in room 4, a three‑bedroom attic room. When we angled the windows, the view was of a lookout tower. The rooms are not sound‑proofed as advertised; we could hear a conversation from the adjacent room and snoring at night. At the entrance, you have to go down a flight of stairs and walk to the second floor in socks… a few steps along a hallway that guests normally walk down to the restaurant in shoes. That information should have been provided beforehand. At checkout we paid a city tax of 400 Kč (the booking lists 50 Kč per person per night; we stayed two nights as two people).
The hotel sits in a fantastic spot, yet the breakfast and dinner prices were way out of line with the quality and taste, especially the dinner. The two people at the front – probably the owners – came across as rude and looked sloppy, hair and clothes a mess. Check‑in was inflexible; even though we were the only guests we weren’t allowed into our room until 4 pm, despite arriving at 2 pm.
The location is unbeatable – the panorama is spectacular and the peace here is incredible, especially watching the sunset behind Table Mountain from the terrace. It’s perfect for a hike, though the hotel lacks a lounge that stays open later; a space that stayed open until 10 pm would be a nice addition.
The spot itself is gorgeous and the location couldn't be better, but the staff were all about rules and orders. They never gave any explanation and jumped straight to threatening a fine.
This little pension offers a truly unique setting with a stunning view, and the owners are genuinely friendly. The only downside is that it feels a bit remote, which is pretty much the whole idea of staying there.
