Lakeside Retreat Lodge With Hot Tub

The bed had wooden slabs that were half‑snapped under the mattress on both sides, the carpets were stained, the hot tub was cold and we had to call maintenance who told us to leave the lid on for about four hours to warm it up, admitting the tubs were not very good, and there were cobwebs behind the TV on the walls.

The hot tub was clean and smelled good, and the overall layout of the chalet was nice; I liked the suite and the proximity to York, though it would have been better to be near the lakeside. However, the chalet was dirty upon arrival, requiring us to sweep crumbs and remove long black hairs from the couches; the bedding had holes and the decking was full of cobwebs and twigs from the trees.

Hot tub and view was great, it was nice to watch all the wildlife. Check in time at NO earlier than 4 so made to sit in the on site bar and spend money when we had all food and drink we needed in car. Lots of stains on carpet of cabin, no salt (just 2 empty salt shakers), no oil, milk or shower gel, tea or coffee or ANYTHING which you usually get provided when you stay anywhere else. 2 toilet rolls to share between 4 girls for 2 nights. Ant problem on decking. Lots of dead flies in the shower. No hand soap in any bathrooms. Ask you to clean up well before you leave but don’t provide any cleaning products or kitchen roll. Most plates and cutlery had dried on food stuck to it

“I think that the site only change the bedding and towels and hoover, I think it is a bit of a cheek to change a cleaning”

We loved the spot and the vibe – the lodge was pretty and the hot tub was a highlight. But the place felt dirty; greasy pans and a greasy cooker, the welcome pack was basically empty, and the bathrooms were dusty and unclean.

“Nice relaxing break which is exactly what we required”

The place was well equipped and in a good location with a lakeside view, but the double bed needs a better mattress.
