Hotel Torre Zumeltzegi, in Oñati's historic center, offers restored 13th-century charm. Exposed stone walls, wooden beams, and parquet floors blend medieval heritage with modern touches. The hotel features a garden, air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi, a restaurant serving traditional Basque cuisine, and a bar with valley views. Hiking trails and Arrikrutz Caves are nearby, with Vitoria, Bilbao, and San Sebastián within easy driving distance.

The spot is amazing, quiet and spotless. But we booked a higher‑floor room in the tower, which is pricier, and more than 70% of the floor is sagging, forcing us to crouch. We hit our heads several times when getting up from bed or sofa. I suggest taking a room on the first three floors—they have views, no sagging, and are cheaper.

The room was fine, and the reception staff were attentive when we checked out. The dinner was pricey and bland, and the breakfast was awful.

The location is great with a view over the town and a short walk to restaurants and shops, but breakfast could have offered more choices.
