The room was neat and clean, and breakfast was excellent; the bathroom was functional but a bit outdated.

The inn feels like a cozy historic tavern in a house from 1764, with warm, personalized rooms that are spotless and tidy; modern touches such as bedside lamps with USB‑C ports and touch controls add to the charm. Snacks and drinks are available, and we spent the evening in the living room. The breakfast was superb, with the best coffee and eggs from the house hens, beautifully presented, and the dining area is bright and inviting. The only downside is the windows need replacement because they let in drafts and noise. Also, the narrow old stairs are awkward for large, heavy luggage – it’s best to travel with only small bags.

This inn is very comfortable and steeped in history, with tastefully decorated rooms. The host prepares a superb breakfast and is attentive to dietary needs. It’s conveniently situated between several local attractions, including spots for leaf peeping.

It’s my second year at the Colonel Spencer Inn, and it feels like home the moment you walk in. The bedrooms and bathrooms are perfect, and Tracy’s breakfast is unmatched. The breakfast room is a sunny, delightful space. If you love books, Jim is a must‑see. You’ll be very happy with this quiet, charming inn.
