“Great hospitality in an old coaching inn and excellent food.”
The old coaching inn had plenty of character, excellent service, and the restaurant served great meals. No complaints.
The food was excellent, staff were friendly and helpful, and everything else was fine.
“Nice shower, comfy beds, average food.”
We booked a room with a double bed and a single bed (Room 5); the beds were comfortable, the shower great, the room newly done and clean, and the hotel/restaurant staff friendly, with plenty of free parking. However, there was no space to hang our bags or clothes (we travelled by motorbikes), rooms smelled a little from bad air circulation, but not too bad. We booked a table to eat dinner from 6:30 PM and arrived 10‑15 min earlier than our booking; food took more than one hour to arrive, so be ready to wait. We had two homemade cheese burgers; they had no cheese, the patty was small and oddly shaped (like a flattened meatball), and it was not seasoned at all. The staff were chaotic during busy hours.
“Lovely welcoming place to stay”
The Blue Bell Inn is a solid base for visiting coastal spots like Holy Island, Banburgh, and Berwick, though it’s a bit isolated from shops. The bar area is cozy, and the evening meals were excellent—exactly what we needed after a day out. The breakfast was nicely cooked and started the day well. Service was good and nothing felt excessive. We’d definitely stay again. No dislikes to mention.
“Superb inn”
The location was lovely, the staff superb, the bedroom and bathroom clean, the food superb, and the scrambled eggs at breakfast were the best – nothing to dislike.
