“Logement d'appoint basique et défraichi”

The location was great, close to the Grótta lighthouse, a pizzeria, and Reykjavik, and the digipass made room access simple. Parking nearby was easy, and the manager sent messages about late check‑in and a breakfast add‑on that we didn’t take. The photos didn’t match the room, shared bathroom, or kitchen, and the sheets were worn though we slept fine. The shared bathroom was full of small bugs, possibly fleas, and the shower was very stale.

“Da evitare”

There was almost nothing positive. The building felt old and dirty, a pipe in the middle of the room looked like a supposed drain, a trash bin was still full when we arrived, the kitchen was old, broken, and filthy, and the chairs were dust‑covered.

The room had drinking water available. The mattresses were dirty, the kitchen wasn’t very clean, and the power outage—though not the owner’s fault—was inconvenient.

“Casa súper sucia y dueños no contestan”

The house looked pretty, but the grime made it look nothing like the photos. The owners didn’t reply, the oven was broken, the kitchen pipes were all clogged, and the bathroom had no hot water—absolutely terrible.

The kitchen and bathroom were clean; it’s a guest house with only three shared rooms, so everything was well maintained and usable by everyone. We were also lucky to have other guests who were polite and tidy 😅. The booking was for a room for three with a double bed and a sofa bed, but the sofa bed wasn’t set up. Contacting the host in the afternoon fixed it, though the communication was a bit slow and the response to messages lagged.
