“Hotel is a great location but average services and poor breakfast”
The suite was large and comfortable, yet the building felt old and the breakfast was only average.

Located in central Galway, The Hardiman sits a minute from train and bus stations and five minutes on foot from the dock. Guest rooms combine comfortable beds, marble bathrooms with designer toiletries, flat‑screen Chromecast TVs, complimentary Wi‑Fi, and press readers. The lower‑ground Gaslight Brasserie, Oyster Bar and Parlour Lounge serve classic cuisine daily, while the newly renovated Parlour Lounge offers a relaxed retreat.

The location and overall decor were excellent, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was superb, and the value during the Galway races was outstanding—nothing to dislike.

The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choices, and the staff were very friendly, but during check‑in I was almost charged twice because they didn’t check the room reference properly, and the multiple elevators that all go to the same floor caused confusion.

The staff were friendly, the foyer looked nice, and the Deputy Manager took the time to listen to my complaints, but almost everything else was disappointing. The website promised “Rooms in our newer wing are decorated in restful, natural colours and textures…our standard rooms range from 20m² - 22m² with…,” yet we were led from the main foyer’s lovely staircase into a side corridor and a small lift in a side wing that housed our room. The room was dark, with no view as promised, overlooking an inner yard full of pigeons, seagulls, ducts, and other unpleasant sights. The room was scruffy, the carpet marked, the bed uncomfortable and built on a strange timber frame with a propped‑up bed on sawn timber. The bathroom looked okay at first, but the shower tray base was grimy, the mastic sealant was poorly applied, the handheld shower head wouldn’t stay in its holder and had to be placed on the deck, and the shower valve controls were unreliable, switching from hot to very hot or freezing cold with a slight turn. Breakfast was only okay, and I even found a spoon covered in yesterday’s dried egg—an odd choice for tableware. We paid £330, which is far more than the same room could be booked for online at £229, so the value for money here is not there.

Everything was perfect, except a rude drunk guest insulted my wife, which was not the hotel’s fault.
