Citadel Narikala Hotel

The hotel itself is good and the amenities are great. Breakfast is plentiful and good, but it isn’t labeled for vegetarians, so you sometimes have to guess the dishes. After a short city outing, we returned to find the room had been cleaned and the towels changed, but €50 was missing from our wedding gift. The staff were not very helpful, offered no assistance or reassurance, and only told us to call the police, which we declined because we didn’t want to deal with that in a foreign country. Because of this, we cannot recommend the hotel.

“Lovely view, but prepare for a challenging uphill walk”

The hotel itself is quite nice – the reception area is especially well designed with archaeological artifacts displayed in cabinets and there’s even a hotel cat, which seems to be a stray but is very comfortable around our room and our friends’ rooms. The view across Tbilisi is great. However, a large makeup stain on our bathroom mirror made applying makeup difficult and looked unclean, and the bed‑sheets had small stains. The road up to the hotel is very steep and hard to navigate with bags and suitcases, and taxis don’t seem to want to drive up that road. Knowing this beforehand would have been helpful.

The view is breathtaking, especially from rooms with a balcony. Breakfast is one of the best I’ve had. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Getting to the hotel is a bit challenging, but that’s just the nature of the historic Old Town.

“Relaxed”

The building’s historic vibe is a real highlight, yet the room card never works, so the front desk always has to unlock my door.
