“Worst experience in Chiapas, can not recommend.”
The room was reasonably clean. On the day of our stay at the Posada Quetzal, we arrived at the airport of Tuxtla and knew we would arrive late in Arriaga. Thus, I wrote the hotel a message before and confirmed that we could check-in after midnight. They replied quickly and confirmed they have a 24h reception, and that the late-check-in wouldn´t be a problem at all. When we arrived 00.15, tired and eager to fall into our beds, there were no lights on in the reception and it looked very unwelcoming. We first tried to find a bell (to no avail), and then wrote another message on booking without success. Only with a fllashlight we saw that there was a woman sleeping face-down in the reception, and we woke her up by knocking on the door. She was not happy to be woken up and said she would not know of any reservation. She also said she only had one room available, which was not the one we booked, but a smaller one. Still she charged us more than the price on booking for it, and wouldn´t back down. We took it, as there are not many alternatives to find at 00.30 in Arriaga. The room was uncomfortable and small. The bedsheets were too small for the bed, and we had to lay on the bare mattress with our feet. We didn´t have hot water, and the last thing I saw before closing my eyes was a huge cockroach making its way to under our bed. Sweet dreams. I directly wrote the hotel via booking to complain, and the only response I got was "Sorry, the receptionist is new". Nothing more. Besides the fact that this only shows that they do not choose or train their staff adqequately, this also didn´t make up anything of our bad experience. Never again
