The room was clean, and there was nothing else to note.

I spent a few nights at Hotel Nepalaya during my trip to Kathmandu. The price and online buzz had me expecting a lot more. The location is good and the reception staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant offered a nice view, probably the highlight of my stay. The room, however, was disappointing—felt old, uncomfortable, with no tea or coffee maker, an outdated bathroom that wasn’t as clean as I’d hoped, and noisy air conditioning that didn’t cool well. Breakfast was below average; the selection was limited and the quality lagged behind other hotels at a similar price. The biggest problem was noise—one night I barely slept because guests talked loudly in the corridor, made phone calls, and drank late into the night. Even after asking to change rooms, the noise persisted. For the amount I paid, there are better options in Kathmandu that offer more comfort and value. I appreciate the staff’s efforts, but overall my stay was disappointing.

I wouldn’t recommend Hotel Nepalaya. The room was dirty and noisy, making it hard to relax. The mattress was extremely hard, so I couldn’t sleep all night. Room amenities were poor: no tea or coffee maker, no complimentary mineral water—there were bottled water in the room but it wasn’t clear if they were free or paid. Breakfast was very limited with little variety. The only positives were the friendly staff, helpful reception, and nice rooftop view, plus the convenient central location. Overall, the bad room condition, lack of amenities, uncomfortable bed, and disappointing breakfast made for a bad experience. I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it.

The staff were exceptional—very friendly and always ready to help. The mattresses, however, needed replacement.
