Most importantly, this hotel accepts foreigners, which most places in Chandigarh do not! The hotel itself is fine, a bit pricey but acceptable, clean but a little scruffy (especially the bathroom), convenient for the railway station (public buses stop there too, though it’s quite far from the city centre), there are cheap local eateries and convenience stores nearby, a delivery menu is in the room but I didn’t try it, and the staff were kind.

The hotel's location is perfect, right in the heart of the city, but the noise from the street can be a real issue. I was lucky to get a room on the higher floors, which helped to block out some of the noise. The staff, however, were a highlight - they were always happy to help and went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. They even managed to get me a room with a decent view, which was a nice surprise.
