We stayed on the Nile, but our apartment wasn’t; it looked more like an old grandparents’ house than a typical Airbnb. Everything was present and functional, and the staff were friendly, but it didn’t feel like a place built for guests wanting to relax. The breakfast was awful: the bread and foul were handmade but had terrible texture and shape, the omelette was cold, and the woman who made it was sweet and caring, but her age seemed to affect the quality.

“Poco pulito ma tranquillo”

Only the transfer to and from the island was acceptable. The apartment was filthy, with sheets only on the bed and not on the mattress, the toilet flush had weak pressure, the TV didn’t work, breakfast ran from 8 to 10 am (so if you did a tour first there was no chance to eat or grab a snack to go), the owner was never seen, the Nile view was stunning only from the high veranda and the un-tiled section, the fridge had the owner’s stuff, and the washing machine had linens inside.

“Una terrazza sul Nilo”

The apartment on Elephant Island was stunning—relaxing, fun, a unique experience 💖 perfect for visiting the botanical garden, the noble tombs, and the Nubian village. Everything was flawless; I wouldn’t go to Aswan.
