The spot was nice, close to the Square and the souks. When it came to breakfast, it was the first time in a riad that I was told there was no coffee when I asked for an extra cup. The same went for orange juice… “sorry, the bottle is empty” (for a first drink!). Incredible in Marrakech!! The staff (very friendly) are certainly not to blame, but you can feel that rules are in place to keep the riad running minimally. Avoid waste, very good! But such restrictions are not great, especially at the rates offered in this riad. Also, when we arrived, my friends had two small water bottles in their room. We had to ask for them the next day.
“Cute Riad, a stone-throw away from the Medina, easily accessible on foot”
The riad was nice with good breakfast, run by very polite and helpful staff. Though it’s hidden in a shady street, it’s centrally located and within walking distance of the Medina and main sights, making city touring effortless. Getting a small taxi on the main street is also very easy. The recent renovation left some amenities missing (practically no closet, just a hole in the wall). The bathroom was our biggest issue with a leaking faucet, very smelly sewer pipes, and practically no door. Hot water is shared across the riad, so you better hope your neighbors leave some for you at night.
“Beautiful riad with great service and delicious breakfast”
The riad was beautifully designed and there was great attention to detail – for example, they have a signature scented oil burning (orange blossom and cinnamon) that immediately relaxes you as soon as you walk in. The staff were all so lovely too – especially Ayman and Mohammed. Super helpful and friendly! Also, delicious and incredibly generous serving of breakfast (see picture below – this was for one person!). The water in the bath was cold and I couldn’t get it to heat up, but the water in the sinks was fine.
Petit déjeuner copieux et très bon, personnels au top. Riad propre
“Vibrerande, fantastik och påfyllande.”
The breakfast was fantastic, and the staff were so friendly. They were happy, kind, warm, and helpful in every way, and close to laughter. The riad was good, the pictures matched well. A calm place to retreat when the traffic and energies in Marrakech become too hysterical. The area grew stronger as the days went on. There was a really good coffee shop around the corner because the breakfast coffee was a bit weak for me. I also think Riad M 17 has an incredible starting position. I like staying among locals, seeing daily life. And that’s what you do here. But what stands out the most is that people are so kind, happy, and eyes everywhere. I didn’t get the feeling that it was a spa hotel/riad. Even though there was a possibility for spa, hammam, massage, which I wasn’t really after in the first place. So I missed nothing.
