If you want to visit the Great Wall and immerse yourself in authentic Chinese culture, this place is perfect! It feels like a time machine to ancient China with incredible color and stunning scenery, and evening tea surrounded by red lanterns. The room has modern furniture and plumbing, is clean and cozy. The hosts are very friendly and constantly offered us fruit. Breakfasts for an extra fee are delicious and portions are huge. There are many cafés and shops nearby, and the Great Wall and a walking park are within walking distance. I recommend it for a short stay so you don’t have to spend resources traveling to the Great Wall from far away. There was nothing I disliked, just a note: the hotel caters to modest needs (an open shower adjacent to the toilet, a small room without wardrobes, items stored in suitcases). The accessibility to attractions more than makes up for it.
“熱情待客的男女主人!非常棒的休憩空間!下次再拜訪!”
May, the host, took great care of us, making us feel like friends rather than just guests. She’s a talented cook and her snowflake pastries were a hit with the kids. During our three‑day, two‑night stay in the courtyard, it wasn’t just a place to sleep but a wonderful space for body and mind to relax. A pavilion offered tea, chess, and card games, and a swing let the children play—this is truly a family‑friendly spot. Watching the apricot tree in the center of the courtyard made time feel slow and peaceful, a real apricot flower wonderland. Each season has its own scenery, and the kids are already planning a return in winter. Thanks to Mr. Cao and May for their warm hospitality! No complaints.
The owners are extremely welcoming and hospitable, and their English communication is excellent. A private tour with the owner is worth it. It is definitely the best lodging option right next to the Great Wall. I highly recommend it to foreign tourists.
“Accueil chaleureux, chambre à côté de la muraille avec possibilité de faire visite guidée”
The welcome was great, the staff very friendly, the room clean and ideally located next to the wall. Nothing else.
“Everything about our stay was excellent. We all loved the courtyard and really appreciated the hospitality of May and Da”
May and David’s courtyard is a magical place full of charm and tradition. I stayed there with my family, including two teenage daughters, for two nights. We were greeted with tea and snacks in the courtyard garden, setting the tone for a wonderful trip. May made sure we had everything we needed, served delicious homemade lunch, and helped with our laundry. David, a highly knowledgeable historian, led a private guided tour of the Great Wall that was outstanding. We will recommend May and David’s courtyard to friends. Two nights was just right.
