The staff checking in were fantastic at the time. The rooms, cabin spa suite with a fireplace, had no TV, no Wi‑Fi, no phone reception, and a small bar fridge, but that was manageable for us. Restaurant meals and the fine dining experience were expensive but worth it; our waitress made our special dinner memorable. The several short walks from the hotel are well worth the effort, and the shuttle bus to Cradle Mountain is a short walk from reception. On the downside, the overall effort or lack of customer service for this premium location is disappointing. The responses from management to 1‑star reviews are just “no action.” Rooms remain dated and a little shabby, which doesn’t match the price. A booked restaurant dinner for a special occasion disappeared, so we postponed a birthday dinner and had to book again a couple of days later; this has happened to many guests over months. Three people had to walk to our room up the back of the resort with only one umbrella in the rain; we asked for an extra one after spending several hundred dollars on fine dining, but it wasn’t possible. Room service or cleaning sometimes just doesn’t happen; basic items like towels, coffee, water, sugar, etc., are replenished one day and not the next. Maintenance issues persist—potholes, no lighting on paths to cabins, leaking roofs—despite complaints several months ago. On our last night we were lucky to talk to the same member who checked us in; she listened, apologized, and promised to act with the manager and contact us. That empathy made a difference, but we have yet to hear or see any communication from management. This place is a gateway to one of the most beautiful mountains in the world, but I would stay elsewhere for half the price, like Discovery Resorts or Highlander, and catch the bus from the visitor centre minutes away. I would still visit this hotel for the restaurant dining and surrounding walks.

I liked how close the lodge was to the national park, and a short walk took me to the interpretation centre where I could access all the walking tracks. The shorter trails around the lodge were great. The staff were friendly and helpful, always happy to answer questions or point me in the right direction.

The location is great, but I didn’t receive the room I had booked.

I loved the wildlife view, but the price was steep and we wished for a smaller, cheaper room.
