The hotel sits right off Chaulast Street, which is really convenient, and from the balcony of my fifth‑floor room I could take in a full view of Darjeeling. They said the peak of Kangchenjunga is visible outside the monsoon season; I missed it this time but I’ll definitely return to try again.

“My stay was disappointing overall: the location was good, but the overpriced room, poor maintenance,”

The hotel’s location is very good and convenient. However, the Executive Double Room I booked did not live up to expectations. I was charged Rs. 14,113.05, yet the room was not worth that price. It was spacious, as an Executive Double Room should be, but several aspects disappointed me. One of the two bathrooms had a serious drainage problem and was uncomfortable to use. When I asked for a room change, I was told I had been given one of the best rooms in Hotel Viceroy, and that although one bathroom drain was not working properly, I still had two bathrooms. I found that answer unacceptable, because I paid for a room with two functional and comfortable bathrooms, not one usable bathroom and one problematic one. Most amenities were very old and poorly maintained. Though we were two guests, only one pair of slippers was provided at first; another pair was given only after we asked. A hair dryer was also available only on request, and it was very old. Overall, the experience did not justify the high price of the Executive Double Room. I would not choose to stay here again, at least not in this overpriced room category.

The ambience was great and the staff were well‑mannered. Nothing specific stood out for the money I paid.
