“Estuvo bien”
Clean and spacious, but there was no heating and the rooms were cold, plus no hair dryer.

The decor was great, but the location was a problem.

I never stayed at the Riviera Colonial because they sent me to another location, and when I tried to complain, they sent me to yet another place in the chain without offering a solution.

The spot was superb, just a stone’s throw from the Plaza de Armas, and the rooms retained the charm of an old colonial house; be prepared for steep stairs when hauling luggage. The receptionists were terse, there was no hot water in the shower on arrival and it took about 30 minutes to sort it out, and when we had to leave early the boxed lunch consisted only of a juice and an apple.

The hotel sits right on the Plaza de Armas, which is incredibly convenient. After three months of booking, they tried to move us to another property because of a room issue, only informing us once we were in Arequipa after a ten‑hour bus ride; they offered a location 20 minutes from the plaza, but when I arrived the original room was still available, so I refused to be relocated far from my reservation. The staff were very young and, frankly, a bit chaotic.
