If you’re lucky enough not to receive a room on the 3rd floor, you might avoid the overwhelming smell of mold — so strong it genuinely feels unhealthy to breathe. Instead, you may get a room on the 2nd floor, which is spacious and relatively clean, but that’s where the positives end. The property is located on the outskirts of the city, noisy, and facing a busy street. There’s only one lift, and it works exclusively for luggage, the towels are so worn out they’re better suited for scrubbing than for actual use. The shared kitchen — used by two other rooms — is dirty, impractical, and clearly avoided by everyone. For an exorbitant price of €2600 per month, the comfort level barely reaches a 2‑star standard. The only real advantage is that you can reach central Alfama in about 15–20 minutes by car
