“Reasonably priced hotel”
Close to the city and good value, but the breakfast on the second day was poor. There is no lift and the rooms are up quite a few stairs.

The Townhouse Chester, a 1699 Georgian period house, is nestled within historic city walls in Chester's heart. Luxurious rooms feature flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee facilities, and en-suite showers with complimentary toiletries. The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the river, Chester Cathedral, and shopping areas, with Chester Racecourse and Zoo nearby, and North Wales coast and Liverpool within 30 minutes' drive.

The staff, room size, bed, and breakfast were all exceptional, yet the historic building’s poor window sound insulation made traffic and pedestrian noise a problem if you’re sensitive.

I loved the cooked breakfast, especially the mushrooms – they were amazing – and the city centre location was great, but the door card had to be re‑energised three times over our two‑night stay.

The quirky hotel sits in a good spot, but the bathroom in our room was very small.

The apartment was lovely, modern, clean, cosy, and the location perfect; breakfast was one of the best I’ve had, though it was a bit pricey due to the central spot, there were a few cobwebs, and I could hear the floor above through the ceiling.
