“Naja, kann Mann mal machen”

The family’s hospitality is second to none! We’d booked the set menu for the evening and were more than pleasantly surprised. It was very generous, absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was brilliant. The lady of the house and her 100‑year‑old mother‑in‑law are the driving forces behind it all. I slept wonderfully on a futon for the first time. But unfortunately, I can’t give it a high rating for that It’s important to realise that you’re a guest on a farm (an apple farm) with everything that entails. Think of it like this: you’re visiting your aunt and spending time with the family. They’ll make space for you to sleep. Everyone shares the bathroom. (That really did take me by surprise.) Unfortunately, the weather was bad, so we didn’t get to see much of the surrounding area. The menu is quite pricey by comparsion

“アレレ！”

The photos posted are too old. The rooms used for guests aren’t actually beds. The food shown in the pictures is different from what was served. Dining outside in the heat was unpleasant. A pet fee exists but isn’t disclosed online, which can cause trouble. During breakfast, someone entered the room I was staying in without permission and left it in disarray. The place is just an ordinary house with no special facilities or equipment, nothing extraordinary.

“Cheap rental of sleeping space.”

The landlords are friendly and offered a welcome drink of apple juice. The futon mattresses were comfortable. The high‑tech toilet bowl was the best I’ve seen 😂. The cost was very low. The road to the accommodation was dark and winding. It felt more like renting three mattresses with a shared toilet than a proper room, because my room had a lot of household items in it. The décor was untidy, with many things scattered around. The owners tried hard to make it feel like a hotel by hiding the usual amenities among the clutter. There were leftovers from other guests, including a piece of ginger nail.

“Un séjour authentique”

The family’s welcome was truly superb, giving us the feeling of living a local life. Communication was very smooth and the host family was very accommodating. You just have to understand that it’s farm life, which can mean a certain level of cleanliness.

I can only recommend this inn; we were welcomed more warmly than expected! Whether it was breakfast or dinner, our hostess is certainly a great chef, and we enjoyed every meal. Our only regret was not having more chances to chat with Kazue (and to take a souvenir photo together!), but that will be for our next trip to the area 🙂 PS: thanks to our dinner companion Kenta, with whom we got to discover Japan even more!
