The beds were hard, essentially just sheets on wood, and the pillows were moldy under the covers. No soap was supplied, the shower head was dirty and brown, and ants were in the bathroom. The AC didn’t work, and other guests played loud music and smoked pot in the courtyard that all doors opened into.

I had a good stay and even extended it; the host welcomed me despite the short notice. The room was spacious, had AC, a shower, a fridge, and a kitchen, and was on the ground floor so I could dry clothes at the back. The location is ideal—close to the hill for walks and sunsets, near shops and the beach. The downside is that the area is all about music and parties, but that’s obvious from the start.
