I showed up at the address, rang the bell and waited at the gate while shouting, but nobody ever opened it. The street was completely empty, like the whole building was abandoned, and after trying every contact number I was left stranded. I ended up throwing my money away and scrambling for a hotel in Rio das Ostras that same night. It was a scary, isolated spot and I felt unsafe the whole time.

The spot is right where you want to be and the vibe inside is pleasant, but the security is practically non‑existent. No one asks for ID and the gate stays wide open all day, which makes me wish there was at least a lock. It’s a nice location, just not very secure.

The room itself was surprisingly roomy, but the stay quickly turned sour. They moved me to a different hostel without any warning, the toilet seat was broken, and the shower didn’t work at all – I had to rinse off under the sink. I checked out a day early because the place just wasn’t fit for guests, and I won’t be coming back.

The only thing this spot got right was its location, but everything else was a mess. I booked two nights and could only stay one; the hostel turned out to be a different, far‑away building that wasn’t even the one shown online. The phone number was dead, the place was closed, and I felt completely ripped off – I’d expect a refund for the night I never got.
