“Overall not a bad stay as prices reasonable for 2 rooms and staff could not have been more helpful”
Haughton Hall sits in a lovely location. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The property was once beautiful but now feels a bit dated and in need of refurbishment. We booked two rooms in the main house: one was fine—dated yet spacious and comfortable; the other suffered from a musty smell and bathroom issues, including a dripping shower tap. The leisure pool was nice but needs tidying up. Breakfast in the morning was great. Overall, not a bad stay given the reasonable prices for two rooms and the staff’s helpfulness. The property is very dated and needs a lot of money spent on it.
Staff very friendly and leisure facilities good. Hotel was very dated, bed very uncomfortable mould on ceiling in bathroom. Evening menu very basic didnt try breakfast. Grounds a bit of a mess lots of weeds everywhere
“Pleasant stay”
The hotel is an impressive Grade 2 building that unfortunately looks tired. The new owners are clearly trying to improve it. Our bedroom was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the facilities were good. The staff were friendly and helpful; I appreciated the reception team for recording our car details for the free parking available to hotel residents. The swimming pool and sauna were lovely. Tristan was a helpful member of the team, and there was a gym that my daughter found impressive. Breakfasts were really good, and we complimented the chef; there were plenty of choices and the service was very helpful. The women's changing room could use more privacy—perhaps a couple of cubicles—since it was an open plan area and felt cramped. The tennis courts were broken but will be fixed next year. A tree fell on the fence, which explains why it wasn’t open.
“We didn’t stay as it was so bad.”
Nothing - so much so we refused to stay - see complaint submitted. It was duty, run down, smelt of mould/damp and was nothing like advertised
“Disappointing, but good photography on ad”
The bed was comfy and the room was very clean, but there was almost no staff around. The food left a lot to be desired – the salad was old and slimy, and the garlic bread was overcooked. The building looked worn down; curtains lacked enough hooks, the window barely stayed closed, and the shower curtain rail was broken. The TV in the room only had a radio channel. A single lady was hustling around, trying to juggle everything, and she did try very hard.
