“A fantastic surprise”
The atmosphere, the hotel itself, and its history were great; we hadn’t expected this trip to be a highlight, but Rl Rancho & Gallup surprised us. We did miss having a hairdryer in the room and a fridge.

Everything was pretty much perfect. The historic vintage vibe was fantastic, and the classic Hollywood stars of Western movies – most of whom stayed there – gave the place a real charm. All the rooms are named after them, and we stayed in the Rosalind Russell room, which had plenty of nostalgic touches throughout. It was a welcome break from the blandness of chain hotels. The bathroom was really tiny, so there was no room for toiletries, but it had been recently remodeled, was spotless, and the shower was very good.

The location and the interior design were great, and it was nice to have a good restaurant in the hotel.

The hotel was beautiful and the dinner was excellent, but the bathroom was cramped and the breakfast service left something to be desired.

The room itself was fine, but when we booked we weren’t told that we were actually staying in the adjoining motel, not the hotel, which left us a bit let down. There were no tea‑making facilities, no snacks (unlike other cheap motels we’d stayed at across the U.S.), and the Wi‑Fi was almost unusable, so we couldn’t even watch TV because the TV relied on Wi‑Fi.
