“Dirty, noisy and essential things are missing. Nice host”
On the bright side, the location is excellent, bus stops are nearby, there’s a bike rental and a convenience store, and Chong was a friendly person who gave us all the directions to the room from the airport without us asking. On the downside, everything else is a mess. We were on the third floor, so the issues apply to that level. It’s undeniably dirty, more than we expected—see the attached photos of the floors. The toilet has a drainage problem so bad that it leaks sewer odors throughout the room! We had to keep the bathroom window open 24/7 and the door closed, yet the smell was still present whenever we entered. There’s also a case of false advertising from the owners; compare my photo of our bathroom with the listing photo. The back of the shower box blocks the bathroom entrance in our photo, but it’s not visible in the owners’ photo, making the space look larger and tidier than it really is. The kitchenette is basically non-existent, only good for heating things in the microwave or cooking instant noodles with the teapot. Want coffee? Only American or instant coffee is available. The cutlery is all dirty and needs a cleaning round. The disconnected pipes are odd. The sofa has its own aura and the stained cushions don’t help. The only table-like surface in the whole apartment is a coffee table next to the sofa, which is a bit broken and wobbly. The curtains are useless and light filters through them like paper tissue. I couldn’t open the windows (which would have helped with the odor). Only two of the four power outlets in the main room worked, and you had to use an extension cord in front of the main entrance. The radiator makes such loud noises, especially in the morning, that it will wake you up if you’re a light sleeper.
