“Ideally situated but very disappointing customer service and room mix up that is yet to be resolved”
It was close to Goodwood. Because it was a busy weekend I couldn’t book a double room for the two consecutive nights we stayed, so I had to book a separate upgraded room for the second night. When I arrived, I was asked if I’d called ahead to discuss this, which I hadn’t, and then told I would need to check out of our current room and check in the following day to the other room. That was a bit inconvenient since we had an early start but understandable. We dined at the hotel, yet the food took over an hour to arrive even though we’d booked a table at a quieter time, and some items were late, so we waited nearly two hours before finishing. The next morning we left the room early and moved our things into the car. We had a poor night’s sleep from an uncomfortable bed and a lot of outside noise. After a long day, we checked in again and were told we were checking into the original room we’d left that morning. Confused, I explained the situation. Despite being fully booked, the room had been given to someone else, and even though I’d paid more for the second room I couldn’t get a refund of the difference. We were offered food vouchers, but I chose to wait for a refund. When I returned to the room it hadn’t been cleaned; our previous towels were still there, the bins were full, and the sides were dirty. This was a shame because we were so tired from the day and the poor sleep the night before, but we had no choice but to stay. We stayed, had a poor sleep, and checked out the next morning. Even though we were assured we’d get a refund, ten days later we still have no update from the hotel. It’s very disappointing, especially since the staff had been reassuring and understanding that this would be resolved, even though they were a bit abrupt about me not calling in advance to let them know I’d booked two rooms.
