There was a free hot spring and a washing machine, which was tucked behind the screen at the Romantic Pavilion dining area. Hot water would come into the room, and tea bags were ready for me. Breakfast could be booked at the hour or half‑hour marks. The nearby restaurants were closed at night, so there was nothing to eat.

The local dishes were fun and delicious, especially the Hida beef; I was impressed by the vertical bath mat after the soak. From the Dutch Bridge I saw a swarm of flying fish for the first time—those blue ones are amazing. Nothing major, just felt everyone was short‑staffed.
