Hotel Pantanal Mato Grosso

The location is amazing and highly recommended as a hub for the north Pantanal. The hotel is quite expensive, but you get all the meals – there are no other options nearby. We came with a driver, which made us feel bound to the place; I recommend bringing a rated jeep or other 4x4 to drive around. Not everything was perfect, but what can one do when one is in the middle of the Pantanal? One has to live with the restrictions. I didn’t really like most of the offered tours: the boat was nice, but the safari was not very interesting.

The staff were super kind and the buffet was decent, though a bit pricey. The rooms were simple but had what you need, and the in-room fridge was a lifesaver—especially since you have to stock up before you reach the Pantanal. The only downside was the evening music; it felt out of place in a natural setting. Also, the bird feeders weren’t set up for easy photo ops and were tucked in the middle of the path.

The guides were friendly and the nature walks were enjoyable, with tasty meals. Unfortunately, the staff service was lacking, the cleaning was spotty, and there was no housekeeping for the rooms.

“Nice place with a very welcome pool in the heat”

The pool and bird feeders were a highlight, and we spotted hyacinth macaws during our stay. The area is well‑equipped with plenty of options, but the wildlife sightings weren’t as abundant as at other Pantanal spots.
