The hosts sent a helpful video on how to get there, and they’re incredibly friendly and hospitable. The breakfasts were the best I’ve had in Albania during my ten‑day stay, even getting a surprise dessert one night. It’s close to the old town, the castle, and a beautiful gorge with an old bridge. The walks are a bit uphill and downhill, but that’s part of the charm.

The courtyard offers breathtaking views, and every morning we enjoyed a solid breakfast overlooking the castle and mountains. The guest house is a lovely, tidy little building attached to the family home, fully equipped. Joel even took us to the nearby Ali Pasha Bridge on our last day, a spot we might have missed otherwise. Driving up to the house can be tough if you’re not used to steep hills—make sure your rental car has enough power.

We had a generous breakfast on the garden terrace with a fantastic city view. The landlord’s son took us to a small traditional restaurant in the evening and drove us to the 700‑year‑old Al Pascha Bridge as a special highlight. Everything else was great.
