The vibe is super nice. The host is friendly, and there’s always a warm community of holidaymakers. Everything feels comfortable and clean. Ohama beach is only 2 km away; just ask the owner to call a taxi for a cheap, quick ride. The beach has excellent snorkeling, with deep reef channels full of large, colorful fish that are close to shore, calm, and safe—just swim out at high tide. I’d recommend renting a car to explore Amami’s beaches, starting from Long Beach II guesthouse. My personal favorite was Yadon beach in the west. The only issue was that the owner mislabeled the room as a “full holiday house”; it’s actually just a room in a guesthouse, though the description correctly notes that the bathroom is shared.
