Greenwood Tavern

Staying at Greenwood Tavern Kigali was a delight! As a Brit 🇬🇧, I found the place charming, spotless, and very affordable. The food and drinks were tasty, and the staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful throughout. Special shout‑out to Ken, the manager, who was absolutely brilliant—always just a call away and incredibly supportive whenever I needed anything. His hospitality made my visit feel relaxed and stress‑free. I’d definitely recommend Greenwood Tavern to anyone heading to Kigali. Great people, great service, lovely atmosphere, and excellent value. I’d love to return! ❤️🇷🇼

“The place was not as expected. What we found is not what we saw on the net!”

Breakfast was okay but not as promised. The property looks nothing like the photos online—deceptive. When we arrived in town we called the number for directions, but the line stayed unanswered. We checked in late at night and there was no hot water. They claimed the water is solar‑powered and only hot when the sun shines, but that was disappointing 😞.

“Trop bruyant !”

We chose this hotel for its pleasant green setting, and we weren’t disappointed. Ken welcomed us warmly and speaks excellent French. The rest of the team, especially Constantin, were also very friendly. We were supposed to stay three nights, but left after the first because we couldn’t sleep until after 4 am due to the bar’s noise (friends’ party). It’s a shame that a place offering rooms doesn’t respect its guests’ sleep!

“Outside nice / inside not”

The staff did their best; breakfast was available and nice; the outside balcony is pleasant. However, credit card payments aren’t accepted. Hot water was absent—first they blamed solar power, but even with bright sun it was missing, so they clearly don’t have hot water at all. Rooms and bathrooms are old and run down (most photos show only the house façade). My room was on the ground floor, left and right across the bar, which stayed loud until late, including outside guests.
