The historic setting and charm, the owner’s friendliness, the breakfast, the bedding, .

We had a wonderful stay at Domaine du Mas Pigné. Pierre was a delightful host. The cottage was cozy, spacious, clean, and quiet. They loaned us a baby bed, which was very handy. Alix even got a strawberry from the garden :) The surroundings are gorgeous and pleasant, and I imagine they’re even better outside the heatwave. All in all, a fantastic experience, thank you!

The owner was super friendly and it felt like arriving at friends’ homes. The spot is remarkably quiet with a lovely mountain view. A walk along a stream leads to the village, where a great restaurant sits on the square (full, but a table was added after we mentioned staying at the mas). Breakfast was very pleasant, just facing the scenery. The property is old (18th century) and could use a refresh. The room and bathroom are spacious, but everything feels a bit dated. The bedding is fine. Naturally there’s no TV or AC, but that was expected for the decent price.

We liked the host, who was incredibly pleasant. The house, with its thick walls and high ceilings, was charming, and the surrounding area is as beautiful as anywhere in France. The dry heat was a nice change. The property is large, quiet, and far from traffic. The view from the window was spectacular—those magnificent cypresses near the house. The main issue was heat, even at night, though the breeze and thick walls helped. I think more heat pumps could help southern France where temperatures climb but winters stay mild. It’s pricey, but more units may bring prices down. Mosquitoes were a problem, and the real upset was a swarm of tiny ants that attracted my wife and made it hard for her to sleep. Pierre said he’d never seen ants on the first floor, and initially we only saw a few, being careful not to leave crumbs. We suggested an electronic deterrent.
