I appreciated that the staff had the heater on when we arrived and that they were generally friendly and helpful. I also liked the continental breakfast, which offered good value and variety. The hot pools are complimentary for guests and are very nice.

The pastry chef deserves kudos. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm. I enjoyed the lounge area. The main dinner menu felt a bit outdated, and I didn’t like the TV suddenly turning up loud at 5am!!!

The staff went above and beyond when we left our elderly grandfather at the hotel while we toured the hobbit town, which he couldn't handle; they made him comfortable with tea, a nice seat, and even gave him an early room to relax. The heritage‑old building was cozy, the dinner over the bar was superb, and sipping a drink in the old lounge surrounded by books was a blast. The hot tub in the room was great, and a short downhill walk to the natural hot springs was worth it. They even offer camper parking near the hot spring. All in all, it was a fun place—definitely not a Hilton, but still a good spot. Nothing to complain about.
