The location was decent, but staying at George Dom turned out to be a bad experience; there was no communication, no towels, no toilet paper, and the bathroom bin was full of used toilet paper from previous guests. The owner was very grumpy and unpleasant. Thankfully we only booked two nights, and I can’t recommend this hotel.

The host was friendly and the room had only toilet paper and a TV. I had to ask for soap, and the bathroom was awkwardly placed on slippery steps up; walking to the center takes 15 minutes by bus, and the beach is also far.

The guesthouse sits comfortably close to the city center and the old bus station from which buses to Górna Adżaria depart, and nearby there’s a large city market with cheap wine, cheeses, and czurczchelą, plus many inexpensive, tasty local eateries. Rooms are spacious, with a comfortable bed and all necessary furniture, fairly clean. The kitchen is fairly well equipped—I found all the needed utensils except a knife. The guesthouse is on a commercial street, so it’s very noisy during the day, but closing the window and turning on the air‑conditioning lets you rest. The renovation was done long ago—the wallpapers are at least 20 years old. Some sanitary fixtures are broken, but for the price you can’t expect luxury.

For the price everything was super. We couldn’t pay at check‑in; credit‑card transfers by ID were a separate hassle, but the host was calm and we paid the next day—thanks for understanding! There’s air‑conditioning, comfortable mattresses and pillows, and a private shower in the room. The kitchen has all the necessary utensils (except a knife) and salt. We were unlucky with the room: the bathroom had a strong mold smell, was above the main room and had no lip, so some water leaked onto the steps into the room. The air‑conditioner smelled dusty, and we found a cockroach in the kitchen, but only one over several days.

The room was clean, the linens were clean, the air‑conditioning and internet worked fine. It was relatively close to the Batumi cable car, but walking there with a suitcase was inconvenient. There was a washing machine in the building. The room is very small, just enough for an overnight stay. There are no blackout curtains, so the sun shines in early in the morning. A road outside the windows isn’t very busy, but you can hear every passing car, and the area is full of locksmiths and car workshops, so it’s not very pleasant to walk around. The owner is a strange guy; we communicated via messengers, but I never saw him. When I texted asking if I could leave a room 30 minutes later, he said he wanted to come and drink wine with me and give me a massage, and only after that could he answer. That nonsense! Also the bathroom construction is odd: there are steps to go up, so if you have a good shower the water will enter the room. A bad smell was always in the bathroom. Overall it seems overpriced.
