“Perfect stop-over with quiet views over the lake.”
I appreciate old houses, and this one kept a solid historic feel while being converted into accommodation and meeting rooms for the Trust. I peeked into a couple of the large ground‑floor rooms that still had period details. The property offers a nice view over the lake and a walk through a wooded area. It’s not far from Wray Castle (NT), which provides additional walking opportunities—though the interior is closed for restoration. A modern annex sits next to the main house, giving the place a “Youth Hostel feel” that was informal and helpful, which I liked. My single room, located at the top of the building, was simple and modern with an ensuite. Normally used for training, it was very peaceful during my stay. No negatives, except that breakfast or dinner isn’t included—this is “room only,” as clearly stated.
