The staff were completely disrespectful, constantly poking their noses into other people's business, and I found that off-putting.

The staff were very nice and welcoming, but the room we stayed in was far from welcoming. The blinds were broken, exposed wires were visible, and that’s not ideal with a child. The lamp kept shutting off and then powering back on at random moments, and it looked like the place was under renovation; the room we got was in the middle of it. A door right outside our room slammed shut when in use, as if the hinges were loose or something, and random debris was just lying in the hallway floor we were on. Because the blinds were broken, light from the restaurant next door poured in, making for a rough night of sleep for me and my family. It was only for one night, so we made do, and who knows if the other rooms look better. I’m not sure. Wish I had taken photos.

We paid a fair rate for our long stay, and the team was genuinely helpful and friendly, the room stayed warm, and the shower was fantastic. I appreciate the new owners’ effort to improve the hotel’s image, especially since we’re now in SD but grew up near EC/CF. However, the constant cigarette smell right outside the entrance was disgusting, and the gentleman who let his dog defecate on the sidewalks and in the parking lot right where people park and walk was not cool. The parking was a pain too—parking in the back lot would be fine if we could access it through a back door, but having to walk all the way around to the front in the cold was exhausting. For your suggestion box: figure out a way to put a smoking area and pet waste station in the back of the building, away from the front entrance. Good luck and Happy New Year! ~Liz & Brian

The room itself was nicely furnished and had good amenities, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, this other property was very poor; nearly every area had visible dirt buildup, and that really ruined what could have been a good stay.

The location was fine, but it was cold, the heat was not plugged in, the room smelled funny, and the bed was uncomfortable.
