The house’s location was great, close to the recreational area, which was perfect for walking our pet. The owners were charming and the house was very spacious and ideal for enjoying Castril and its surroundings.

What a terrible experience – don’t bring your pet, the place isn’t set up for animals and the owners don’t like them. First, there’s no fence and the house sits right next to a road, making it unsafe, and inside you can’t let the pet on sofas or beds or even leave a hair or you’ll lose the €50 deposit plus the extra nightly pet fees that weren’t mentioned in the listing. We brought two covers from home to protect the bed and sofas, but when we went into town to shop we left them there because, again, there’s no fence and the pets could run off; the owners called saying the dogs had peeked into the house (or entered) while we weren’t there and claimed they were on the bed barking, so we rushed back and they started arguing that couldn’t have happened. We almost left but stayed the last night because more friends were with us. Besides that, the house is actually several divided units with many neighbours; the upstairs families had noisy kids running and shouting, shaking everything below. There was no hot water – one person could shower quickly before it turned cold, and we were six people. The first‑aid kit was expired, there were no napkins or cleaning supplies, and countless other issues. Absolutely horrible, both the house and the hosts.

The house was big, but it had old sheets, blankets, and kitchenware, and there were cracks everywhere.

I had a rather disappointing stay at this accommodation. While the location was convenient, with the village within walking distance and a nearby closed route, the property and its advertisement were misleading. We were charged 7€ per box of firewood, not mentioned in the ad, and the plastic fruit container was hardly sufficient to keep us warm on -3 degree nights in Castril. The heating in the living room didn't work, and the radiator in the bedroom kept shutting off.
