“Residencial Moeda. Um valor a mais para a baixa Coimbra.”
I liked the quick and straightforward check‑in, the easy access to the accommodation, including an elevator, which is important for everyone and especially for guests with reduced mobility. I appreciated the cost‑benefit ratio, the quiet room with all equipment working well, such as the shower, Wi‑Fi, air conditioning, cable channels, and all comfort items. A small but complete hotel. While staying in Baixa Coimbra, I was at Praça do Comércio and on 19 August, the Day of Cernache, there was the 39th edition of the Onion Fair, a centuries‑old event originally called the São Bartolomeu Fair, with a regional gastronomy and confectionery side present. I consider that fair a gift, exactly on the day I arrived, with folk dances, flutes, and concertinas, where we could dine and observe everything. The next morning, from Rua do Padrão we went to Salamanca; the hotel between those two points was vital to avoid any delay. I stayed only one night, which was insufficient to explore what Baixa Coimbra has to offer. Although it did not include a breakfast, a restaurant next to the hotel covered that detail.
“More than value for money”
Everything supereb. Nothing
“Todo correcto”
The room was spacious, but the building itself is old.
“INFORMAL, DESASTROSO, CUTRE”
The neighborhood was depressing and scary. It’s not easy to reach the accommodation. When we arrived, the door wasn’t opened, the bell didn’t work, and a lady answered the phone saying she only understood Portuguese (even though we spoke Galician, Spanish, English, French, and German). She refused to open the door. At 10 pm we had to find another place. I will file a complaint with Booking. We did not cancel the reservation, the door was not opened, and the neighborhood was depressing.
I was thrilled to find the hotel right next to the city center, but the claim about nearby parking turned out to be false; the property sits in the heart of the city where only residents can drive in. The area feels a bit third‑world, yet just a short walk brings you to the bustling center.
