The lodging was very unique and comfortable, and breakfast was amazing, though there was no AC in our room, which was fine for this weather but worth knowing ahead of time.

The Squibb Houses in Cambria offer two historic bed‑and‑breakfasts: The Squibb House, a 1887 Victorian with five rooms featuring private baths, fireplaces, and cozy seating, and The Black Barn, a restored 1880s barn with four spacious rooms, each with a fireplace and private bath. Guests enjoy free Wi‑Fi, on‑site parking, a nearby gift shop, and proximity to Hearst Castle, Morro Bay, and San Simeon.

The rooms were a decent size; the restroom was tight and the sink was outside the restroom. We stayed in the Gothic room facing the backyard, which was very quiet at night. Breakfast was great—an upgraded continental breakfast. The only staff we met was at breakfast and she was kind. Heads up: there is a communal fridge, ice maker, Keurig, and electric kettle! Everything else was good; if you bring a laptop, note that there are no TVs, so you’ll need a sleeping mask for the bright morning sun.

We stayed in the Hickory room and loved its comfort and character; it was clean and pulled us into “vacation mode” quickly. Everything was clean and perfect.

The Squibb Houses sit in a prime, historically significant spot, and the hosts worked hard to honor that while keeping modern high standards. The room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a great selection of food and drink. The value for money was excellent; I would definitely recommend The Squibb Houses! Nothing to note otherwise.
