Alles war perfekt, aber uns fehlte das Morgenessen-Angebot.

When we arrived, the staff were lovely and very helpful; one of the girls even booked a local taxi for us when we struggled to find one that evening. The rooms were basic but clean and very comfortable, with everything you would need. The bed was comfortable and clean, and there were tea and coffee making facilities, some biscuits, and a choice of cereals. The place was lovely, though the shower in our room was very hot and we couldn't lower the temperature, but it didn't cause a major issue.

Wylam was the perfect place to break the journey before the last day of walking Hadrian's Wall. I chose the Ship Inn because other local hotels specified a late checkout, and I left at 8 am. My hostess advised me where I could get an evening meal, and the pains au chocolat provided in the room made a pleasant supplement to a bottle of juice drink I bought at the shop next door for a DIY breakfast. It was a bit expensive - the most expensive night on the trail

I would recommend the Ship Inn at Wylam. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable, clean and quiet. They have all the facilities you might need, including breakfast cereals and milk in a small fridge. A very minor point but the room would benefit from bedside lights, rather than just having a main light. This is a very minor thing though
