We found a place with untapped potential, but at least we had mosquito nets. In one room where the water worked, the shower was great and hot, and the beds were quite comfortable, adding to the overall vibe. Jennifer greeted us warmly and was very friendly, and the location was decent. The downside was that we were delayed a lot because the owner didn’t understand the online booking; we’d already paid online but were asked about it about 20 times, even though we kept showing the proof. I’d advise against paying online and only settle on arrival. In three of the four rooms, the shower didn’t have water, which should have warranted a huge discount. A fridge in the kitchen would have been useful.

The entrance is on the main road, and the building itself is quiet. The garden is nice. The beds are only 1.90 m long, which is too short for a tall person. There is a kitchen, but there was sugar on the counter and many ants came. The accommodation is shared with other guests. There are five rooms, so many different groups can be there. The rooms are very noisy. Room 5 has a toilet/bathroom, but it’s on the other side of the hallway. It used to be a driver’s lodging, now rented to tourists. The price is low for a reason. If you’re not very tall and you’re lucky that only one or no other rooms are booked, you can stay cheaply here.

The location is fantastic and the staff are incredibly friendly! I was really satisfied. The place is close to the street but has a very quiet front garden where you can relax wonderfully. Highly recommended!

“Zentral, sauber und mit Herz”

I give this Karatu accommodation the warmest recommendation! It’s right in the center, yet tucked away in a nice garden, so it’s surprisingly quiet – I’ve rarely slept so well in Tanzania. The rooms are cozy, very clean, and there’s a simple kitchen and a sitting area. It’s not luxurious, but the value for money is top – the best in this price range so far. As a solo female traveler I felt completely safe – a security guard is there at night, and a wonderfully warm staff member was there during the day and helped me a lot. She gave me a spontaneous city tour, went shopping with me, helped with a bus ticket, and even accompanied me to the bus early the next morning, far beyond her working hours. I’m so grateful and felt completely welcome.

“Genial lugar y trago!”

The place is in the center of Karatu next to the road but you don’t hear anything. A great garden to relax. A small kitchen area. A lounge for bad weather days. A parking area. The bathroom is adequate, no luxuries. It has some hot water – enough for a shower. All good. 100 % recommended for adventurers!
